The new project Dialogue – Deconstructed City was an audio-visual project by VJ Group Random Doctors (VJFinland), in collaboration with experimental music and performance group Riders Of The Lost Current and sound artist Mér. The 3-hour spectacle took over the corner of Vaasankatu and Fleminingkatu on Saturday August 24, 2013.
Dialogue – Deconstructed City explores the complex social, spatial and political structures of the City. The project is based on improvised interactive dialogues between experimental electronic and acoustic live music, field recordings (e.g. Helsinki, Berlin, Athens, Istanbul), circuit bent instruments and live visuals.
Random Doctors is a Helsinki-based VJ group formed in 2004. Their energetic live performances are combination of wild improvisation and professional attitude. Mixing up real-time visuals they explore the depths of our cultural subconscious fearlessly challenging djs and musicians to push their limits. From festivals to smallest underground clubs and art events they stay true to their mission, to seek the magical moment where music, visuals and audience become one.
Riders Of The Lost Current is an experimental music and performance group, who uses circuit bent instruments made out of old, recycled children’s toys and effects to create ambient music. The created music is mainly improvised; relying rather in the spontaneous feeling and movement of the atmosphere than strictly rehearsed parts, the collage of sounds varying from electronic experimenting to haunting dark ambient, drone sounds, to heavy noise.
Mér is a sound designer, producer and musician having long history for electronic music and techno in Finland.
