MEDIA FACADES FESTIVAL is a festival of urban media dedicated to presenting media and electronic art projects in public space. The festival creates new audiences for media art, opens up new experiences of urban space and experiments with the participatory dimensions of public space technologies.
Media Facades Festival Helsinki is a partner festival of the Helsinki Festival. The production and presentation of art projects takes place within an international collaborative network: the first edition in 2010 was part of the Media Facades Festival Europe series of events in 7 cities, and in 2012-15 the festival is realized in context of the Connecting Cities network of 11 cities.
The core of the Media Facades programme is formed by a selection of new art projects whose development and presentation is enabled by the international network. In Helsinki, the events also include local co-productions and experimental, collaborative workshops. This website includes documentation of all projects realized in Helsinki.
Media Facades Festival Helsinki is produced by m-cult, with key support from EU Culture Programme and the Helsinki Cultural Office. Further support from AVEK and the Ministry of Culture and Education.
